Title: Third Grade Long Term Sub (Jan. through March)
I. Identifying Information
a. Status: full time
b. 40 hours weekly
c. Reports to Principal
II. Primary function of this position
The Catholic school teacher respects Catholic values and aids students in Christian formation by exemplifying Catholic living, both in and out of the classroom. Given that Catholic schools educate their students to promote the kingdom of God, it is important that all teachers are role models for students, exemplifying Catholic teachings and values in their lives and in their actions.
The teacher is accountable to the principal to provide education to the grades and/or subjects assigned, to implement Most Holy Trinity Catholic Academy philosophy, to follow the policies of the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Academy and the Archdiocese of Detroit, and adheres to the directives set by School administration.
III. Key Responsibility Areas
a. Curriculum
i. Cultivates a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning
ii. Maintains classroom management
iii. Organizes and prepares resources for students
iv. Incorporates technology to effectively enhance student learning
v. Teaches assigned subjects
vi. Leads daily prayer and participates in school liturgies
vii. Assists students as needed
viii. Supervises areas as assigned
ix. Escorts students to specialty classes and other areas as assigned
x. Communicates professionally and in a timely manner with parents
xi. Plans all‐school liturgies as requested
xii. Plans instruction carefully and implements effectively
xiii. Evaluates and grades students’ work
xiv. Cooperates with the principal and staff in the planning and development of curriculum
xv. Performs duties as requested by the principal
b. Record Keeping Duties
i. Maintains grades and prepares grade reports via FACTS
ii. Records daily attendance of students via FACTS
iii. Records daily lunch for students
iv. Completes all required forms and reports
c. Meetings and Organizations
i. Attends Faculty meetings, in‐service meetings, and other meetings as needed
ii. Attends Non-Public School Plan meetings, as applicable
iii. Requests and attend parent meetings, as necessary
iv. Attends Archdiocese of Detroit and MHTCA profession development meetings
d. Job Qualifications
i. Practicing Catholic
ii. Current teaching certification issued by the State of Michigan
iii. Bachelor’s degree in education
iv. Adhere to policy and procedure set forth in Personnel Manual
v. Completion of background checks and Safe Environment training prior to employment
vi. Previous elementary teaching experience preferred
